January 2009Our National IDS Leadership conference was held in Dallas, Tx. The IDS Houston Chapter was then in the formation process. IDS National awarded Elizabeth Dinges a full scholarship to attend the conference as an aid in helping Houston start an IDS chapter. It was truly an inspiring experience to meet all the chapter presidents and the national leadership team.

May 2009
The first IDS Houston Chapter meeting was held in May 2009. This was the final outcome of many long months of working to make this a reality. The first meeting was scheduled for November 2008. However, this was cancelled due to a little bad weather in the form of hurricane IKE. Determined the formation committee of Shelia Bludworth, Elizabeth Dinges, Liz Jacson and Sandra Lundy continued to work toward a Houston chapter. At last in May 2009 the dream became a reality.
IDS Houston Chapter 1st Meeting
The night before our 1st meeting we gathered for a celebration dinner. Pam White CEO of National IDS flew in to chair this meeting. There was so much energy and excitement in the room. Houston officially was ready to launch an IDS Chapter. All the member of IDS National in the Houston area now have a home, a place to gather together.

The day finally arrived and Pam White chaired the first meeting. The Houston Decorative Center provided the room for our meeting and set-up the seating. The Decorative Center had at this point partnered with IDS. Among the attendees was Cathy Salyers, Mary Liang-King, Nicole Marino, Nicki Kana and Mary Calvin. These ladies have been an a vibrant part of IDS Houston ever since. (If I missed someone on this list please let me know.)

FROM THIS POINT FORWARD HOUSTON IDS HAS CONTINUED TO GROW. WE ARE PLANNING FUND RAISERS AND SEEKING GREAT VENDORS TO HOST OUR MEETINGS. WE ARE LOOKING FOR WAYS TO HELP OUR MEMBERS LEARN AND GROW. ALONG THE WAY WE ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME.
